Melanie and David - Mel and David\-s Travels

David and I have been staying very active!  Yesterday alone, we took unwanted dips in the freezing Atlantic Ocean, as we attempted to paddle a very tippy kayak; we visited University of Capetown; we fixed our first flat tire (all by ourselves!); and we watched the sunset with some lovely new people we met at Camps Bay.

A number of you have asked for pictures!!  Here are just a few...

Our start in Capetown....visiting the Waterfront, getting cell phones, relaxing at the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

A few weeks ago, we did a "township tour", followed by a visit we took to Site Five (a small township) where we were invited to lunch by a Zimbabwean waiter whom we had met in Kalk Bay.  We enjoyed a traditional meal of "mealy pap and sauce" in their tiny shack, and we able to see how many people in Africa live.  It was quite an eye-opening experience, since this couple with a small daughter lived in a shack the size of a large kitchen cupboard!  Very humbling indeed.

We've visited the West Coast National Park and Table Mountain for great hiking, Franschhoek for the wine country experience, Muizenberg for surfing, and Cape Point for our lovely baboons and penguins.

and now we can celebrate the end to all of the sawdust and paint that came with redoing the floor and repainting some rooms!
